How to Run Android Studio App on Phone via USB Debugging

Learn how to connect Android phone with Android Studio using USB debugging to run and test the Android application.

In Android Studio we have two options to run or test our app, the first on a real Android device and the second using an emulator.

Android Studio itself is a heavy software and if we test or run our app using an emulator it will take extra resources and slow down your computer. And if you have a laptop with 4GB RAM and i3 Intel Processor (or below) then it will almost impossible to work with it.

Better is that we use our android phones (real device) to run and test the Android Studio app. Official guide to run the app on a real device or an emulator.

1. Enable developer options on your phone by tapping the build number seven times. Build number option generally available in System Settings > About phone > Build number.

2. Enable USB debugging and Install via USB from developer options.

3. Open Android Studio, and connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.

4. It will automatically detect your device and a USB Debugging Authorization dialog box will appear on your phone, allow it.

If this does not work, turn off the USB debugging option and turn it back on.

Now you can select your device from the Android Studio toolbar and run your Android app on your phone.

Possible issues :

1. Appropriate USB device driver is not installed on your computer
